Welcome to Sauer Street Charities

Welcome to Sauer Street charities - a base for the four long-standing and increasingly effective donor organizations set up by the Star newspaper for readers and companies to support financially. The Star is Johannesburg’s oldest newspaper, having celebrated its 125th birthday in 2012. In addition to its history as a beacon of journalism, the newspaper has adopted a number of causes over the years to assist communities from the margins of the society it reports on. The Sauer Street Charities are the Corporate Social Investment arm of Independent Newspapers and are managed internally with the aim of supporting communities identified to be in need of assistance. The Charities are segmented into the following flagship projects :- The Sauer Street Charities’ Mission is governed by their constitution in line with that of Independent Newspaper Limited in that “We strive for maximum quality in every aspect of all that we do. We are committed to the betterment and success of the democratic South Africa, through activities and projects which alleviate poverty and works towards the betterment of our society and through enterprise development.”
